Stronger than regular household needles, Groz-Beckert multi-directional longarm needles are chromium coated for extra durability and strength. A long groove and larger eye help prevent thread twisting and shredding when changing direction. If thread shredding occurs or sounds like a machine gun punching through the fabric, it's time to change the needle. A good rule of thumb is to change to a fresh needle with every quilt or two, depending on the size of the quilt and thread used.
